Nahanni   National   Park   Reserve   Expedition   Documentary

Picture
Documenting their ten days spent on the Nahanni River in Canada's Northwest Territories, David Lawless and George Woodhouse team up to produce a short documentary film about their experience in the subarctic, witnessing the effects of climate change on the environment and the communities of the north. Through video and song, the short film will showcase the fragile ecosystems of Canada's north and raise awareness about the need to conserve one of Canada's last great wilderness areas.

To be released in 2012, the documentary will be a glimpse into the heart of Nahanni National Park Reserve before m
ining and development begins in late 2012. Produced in association with Parks Canada and the British Council's Global Changemakers TV and with support from Youth for Climate Justice.

LATE  NIGHT  YOUTH  SHOWCASE  ON  ROGERS  TV

Picture
Youth for Climate Justice is in the initial stages of supporting a local, youth-led television program that would address community activism among youth in Owen Sound as well as highlight the importance of youth activism in Canada. Preliminary meetings have been held to discuss the format and proposed theme of this project but there is no start date for production as of yet. We are examining further opportunities to fund this program either through the Government of Ontario or a British Council grant. Keep posted to this website for more news regarding the future of this exciting new program.

About the Proposed Show:

"Late Night Youth Showcase will offer the community of Grey County a youth perspective in an engaging, exciting and educational manner. The structure of the program would be analogous to a late night talk show, but with the emphasis strictly on the achievements, talent, and activities of young adults in our area. We believe the show can be extremely popular with a younger demographic, allowing Rogers TV to embrace a more diverse audience. Having noticed a lack of youth-oriented programming on Rogers TV, we believe that our proposed show could help fill this void and reach a new and influential audience while at the same time providing a low-cost means of producing quality local programming. We, like many others in our community, feel that there is so much young talent in Owen Sound and Grey County, but it is often overlooked. We strongly feel that showcasing the best our youth have to offer in a fun and engaging environment will prove to be a useful edition to Rogers TV as well as the larger community of Grey/Bruce, Owen Sound."

Objectives:
  1. To showcase local youth talent from Grey County and Owen Sound area.
  2. To inform a larger audience, unaware of the talent and positive impact youth and young adults are making in our community.
  3. To provide an opportunity for young adults to express their ideas, talk about their initiatives and highlight interesting youth events that are having a positive effect on the local community.
  4. To raise awareness about interesting and inspiring youth who are changing our world.
